An ecovillage and sustainability research and education center is being designed for three acres along the Willamette River, located ten minutes by bicycle from the center of Eugene, Oregon.
We plan to:
- Live, work and play together on this land with 30-50 neighbors.
- Grow food on our fertile soil that has never been built upon.
- Research and practice ways of living with a light carbon footprint that promote self-reliance within an urban environment.
- Offer classes and apprenticeships in sustainable living skills.
- Travel primarily by foot, bicycle and public transportation.
- Provide small retail spaces to serve the larger neighborhood.
- Share a large kitchen and dining area, tools, vehicles, and other resources owned in common.
- Practice communication that fosters peaceful cooperation.
- Include people of diverse ages, backgrounds and economic resources who share an interest in living in a manner that protects the earth.
