Melanie Rios is an explorer on the path of energy descent, choosing to live simultaneously with more joy and a lighter ecological footprint. She offers consultations and workshops entitled "Green is Hot: Responding to Global Warming" and "Permaculture for the Inner Landscape". She is also available for community mediation, grows most of her family's vegetables and fruits, and is coordinating the creation of a new River Road Ecovillage on three acres next to the Willamette River, including lobbying for an ecovillage zoning code for the city of Eugene. She is mother to three young adults: Davi, Maya and Skye Rios, and lives with her partner, Rob Bolman and two housemates, Erik DeBuhr and Laura Mabbe.
Melanie performs and teaches classical and folk violin, and she has recently begun focusing on singing and playing guitar. She is certified through Book Seven in the Suzuki method of teaching violin.
