| The 8th annual Permaculture Gathering, "Towards An Enduring Bioregion," took place the weekend of September 10 - 12, 2004 at the Maitreya Eco Village in Eugene, OR. Beginning with a keynote by Allan Kapular, the gathering also featured workshops, panel discussions, a land-use bike tour, hands on activities and plenary sessions. Topics included composting, healthy soil, gardening, eco forestry, food fermentation, diet, water gardens and much more. | |||||||||||||||||
One of our goals
for the entire Gathering was to collect good ideas that will become part
of the Green Paper. The Green Paper will be a document describing ideas,
principles and strategies for moving Eugene, Oregon in a direction that
is oriented towards taking care of more community needs; cultural and
economic, within our Bio-Region. The Guild will present the Green Paper
to the City of Eugene in January 2004. |

| Permaculture is defined as the "conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive eco-systems that have the diversity, stability and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of landscape and people, providing their food, energy, shelter and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way." | |||||||||||||||||
