Green is Hot: Responding to Global Warming

Melanie is certified as a "Climate Master," through a pilot program offered at the University of Oregon which is modeled after the national Master Gardener program. Climate Masters offers consultations to people who want to reduce their carbon output through changing in their houses, yards, food, and transportation. They also offer workshops and presentations on the topic of climate change and sit at information booths for festivals.
In April of 2007 Melanie traded places with a woman from North Carolina as part of a reality TV show called "Wifeswap." In this episode, which will air on Monday, August 6, 2007 on ABC, she coached a father and son to lighten their ecological footprint while also taking steps to live more happily. In the meantime, her son Skye and partner Rob hosted the mom from this family at Maitreya Ecovillage.
Melanie performs songs with ecological topics, including a song called Climate Change and another called Green is Hot and Getting Hotter. The latter song was written by Rob Tobias, and you can hear it on his website with Melanie on fiddle at robtobias.com
